How can I protect my wood furniture?

Most of us are guilty of not paying enough attention to our furniture. We tend to concentrate on the shiny mirrors and glass tables rather than the furniture. Wooden furniture needs to be nurtured and looked after. It is not enough to give it a quick wipe once a week.

Dust mites gather very quickly and easily and are not very visible to the naked eye. It is important to dust your furniture at least once a week by going over it with the brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner or a duster cloth. If your wooden furniture has been coated with an insoluble layer or protective lacquer then you can use a damp cloth to wipe away the dust mites. In addition once every month your wooden furniture should be oiled to keep its character and sturdiness. Which oil you choose will depend on the type of wood that you have.
